Cannabis EducationProducts The Difference Between Hash & Flower

Oct 28, 2022

Do you know the difference between hash and flower? Here are the basics.

Flower

“Flower” is a term used to describe cannabis buds that have been dried, trimmed, and are ready to be consumed. This is the least processed type of cannabis product. Flower is typically ground down into small pieces and then rolled into a joint, packed into a bowl, or otherwise smoked. Flower can also be consumed in edibles.

Generally, flower has a more delicate, floral aroma and taste than hash.

Hash

“Hash” is a term used to describe a specific type of cannabis concentrate where the resin of the cannabis plant is separated out either mechanically or chemically. Hash is the oldest type of cannabis concentrate because it can be made manually. It usually comes in the form of a brick or slab.

Hash is versatile and can be consumed in a number of ways. It can be added to flower and smoked in a joint, pipe, or bong, ingested orally, or consumed using a vaporizer or a dab rig. Generally, hash has a deeper, earthier aroma and taste than flower.

It is important to purchase high quality hash from trusted vendors, because some lower quality hash contains a lot of filler material.

Potency of Flower vs. Hash

Because hash is a cannabis concentrate, it is considerably more potent than flower (if the hash you are consuming is not very potent, it is likely a low quality product). The high you experience from hash and flower will differ depending on the strain of the plant, the amount you consume, and your body’s individual response.
